The holiday season in Atlanta turns the city into a magical winter wonderland. It is filled with twinkling lights, festive events, and winter activities that are sure to get you into the spirit of the holiday season.

Whether you’re a local or just visiting friends and family, there’s no shortage of things to do to make your holiday season memorable. Here are a few of my favorite places to visit during the season.

Atlanta Botanical Gardens – The botanical gardens dazzle each year with a fantastic holiday light display. Stroll through lighted tunnels, glowing orbs, and beautiful installations across the garden grounds. You can see this beautiful show now through January 12, 2025. That is not all they have to offer. You can also check out the Holiday Train Ride, Carols in the Garden, and much more.

Skating at Atlantic Station – Get in some ice skating at Atlanta’s largest outdoor rink. This spot is perfect whether you’re a pro or a super beginner like me. Surrounding stores, movie theatres, and restaurants offer opportunities to warm up with hot cocoa or a bite to eat. You also will be able to experience the Holiday Creator’s Market, which has more than a dozen vendors showcasing their products for you to purchase. You have plenty of time to create those memories until January 20, 2025.

Fox Theatre – If you are in the Midtown Atlanta area and want to see a Broadway show, you must check out Fox Theatre, which is located two blocks from Camden Midtown Atlanta. You can see shows like Atlanta’s rendition of The Nutcracker-Magical Christmas Ballet, a tradition for many families. You also can see A John Legend Christmas, Merry Mighty Mo, and The Hip Hop Nutcracker. There are various dates for these shows. Check out the website to pick the best date for you.

Atlanta Christkindl Market – Located in Buckhead Village District close to Camden Buckhead and Camden Paces, this is a traditional German-inspired holiday market. It brings food, wine, handcrafted gifts, and plenty of cheer to Buckhead Village District. It is ideal for finding distinctive holiday gifts and trying seasonal European treats. I am so excited for my family and me to experience a slice of old-world holiday charm for the 3rd year in a row! You can go Monday- Thursday from 3 pm to 8 pm and Friday- Sunday from 11 am – 9 pm. Free admission through December 24.

Holiday Shopping on Peachtree – The shops along Peachtree Street and around Ponce City Market offer unique gifts, local art, and holiday-themed items. Don’t miss the Ponce City Market’s Rooftop, which transforms into a holiday village with games, Santa photos, and seasonal treats. It opened in November and goes through January 5, so you can enjoy the Igloos on the Rooftop and Skate the Sky. This is close to Camden Fourth Ward, so all you have to do is grab your wagon and walk over to do some great shopping and eating.

From sparkling lights to cheerful food and seasonal shows, Atlanta has no lack of ways to make your holiday unforgettable. This bucket list has something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you’re into traditional Christmas markets, ice skating, or cozying up in a festive bar, you will not miss a beat. So, get out of your Camden apartment, grab a scarf, gather your loved ones, and get ready to experience the winter wonderland we call Atlanta!
